Do I have to pay for more than one driver?

Certainly not, as long as driver holds a standard licence either from New Zealand, Australia or has an International licence.

Do I have to pay for Diesel road user tax?

Yes there is a small charge of $4.95 per 100 kilometers.

No, you can travel unlimited kilometres.

Which Airports can I collect my Go Birdz campervan from?

You can collect your campervan from Auckland International/Domestic Airport, Christchurch Airport, Bay of Islands (KeriKeri) Airport, Whangarei, or Kaitaia Airport. Also we are happy for pick up at one of the above locations and drop off at another. In addition we can normally accommodate meeting you at your hotel. For South Island drop offs, rentals need to be for four weeks or more.

How old do I have to be to drive a Go Birdz?

We have no age restriction as long as you hold a full standard driving licence. If you are over 75 years of age we require a medical certificate stating you are fit and well to drive.

Can we take Go Birdz to the South Island?

Yes, we do not put any restriction on you not to take your vehicle to visit the South Island.

Do I have any assistance whilst in a Go Birdz?

Yes, we have a 24 hours freefone telephone number, you have 24 hours AA roadside assistance. We will also sanction any repair for up to $100 so that you can deal with minor repairs speedily.

Should I pre-book the ferry to the South Island?

If you are travelling at peak season I would strongly recommend this. However, off season and if you can be a little flexible there should be no problem.

Are there any road restrictions?

Yes, you are insured on all sealed public roads. You are not allowed to drive on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ball Hut Road (Mt Cook), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula) and Bluff Road that runs between Kuatunu and Mataurangi.

How much water does the tank carry?

Go Birdz campervans carry 45L water in a dedicated tank.

Where can we camp?

Normally you can camp anywhere where there is not a sign saying "No Camping" or "No Overnight Parking". Obviously, common sense is needed. Never be frightened to ask the local Kiwis who are very friendly people. New Zealand has an extensive network of holiday parks in all major tourist centres and towns. We can recommend all Qualmark holiday parks, they offer great recreational facilities. They all have provision to plug in your 240v, many have wifi for internet connections.

What days do I pay for?

The day you pick up your Campervan vehicle is counted as day one of your rental and the day you return your vehicle is counted as your final day. Collection and drop off times are from 08:30am - 04:30pm. The drop off time can be no later than the pick up time on day one.

For car rental the daily hire is for every 24 hours.

For scooter hire the daily hire is anytime from 07:30am and collection is at 6:00pm

What Driver's licence do I need?

A New Zealand standard car licence, Australian or international driving licence is accepted. This must be presented to our representative when collecting your vehicle.

Can I change the date of my drop off?

If you want to extend your hire your must get authorization from Go Birdz reservation. It will be due to availability. Any extra rental cost will be charged to your credit card.

How do I reserve my vehicle?

A reservation can only be secured with a deposit, this can be done either over our make a booking page with a valid credit card, alternatively you can fax or telephone . We can then secure and confirm your booking.

Is it safe to pay by credit card?

Yes, we treat our client's information very seriously. All our transactions are secured by SSL. This encrypts your credit card number so as to make it unavailable to any other party.
