New Zealand Ferries

New Zealand ferries offer a range of services for passengers, vehicles and freight. Bookings are generally advisable to be made in advance, as ferries can become very busy in New Zealand. New Zealand ferries are often booked out during school holiday periods.

NB: There are no ferry services available on Christmas Day (25th December).

Cook Strait Ferries

The Cook Strait is the stretch of water between the North Island and the South Island of New Zealand. At its narrowest point, Cook Strait is about 19 kilometres wide.

New Zealand ferries offer transport across the Cook Strait, between Wellington in the North Island and Picton in the South Island.
